What busy salons run into
Three problems every salon owner deals with — and how Avana fixes them.
No-show rates in salons without automated reminders average around 20 percent. With automated SMS and email reminders, most salons bring that below 5 percent within the first month. On a busy week with 30 appointments, that's worth several hundred dollars.
Instagram DMs and texts eat your day
40% of salon bookings now happen outside business hours. If your only channel is the phone or Instagram DMs at midnight, you lose almost half. With Avana, clients book directly on your own page in under a minute — even at 11pm on a Sunday in Brooklyn.
No-shows cost real money
At a $55 average ticket and 25 appointments a day, a 20% no-show rate is up to $275 lost daily. Automatic SMS and email reminders 24 hours and 2 hours before each appointment drop that below 4% — typically $800-1,200 in recovered revenue every month.
Per-staff fees and marketplace commissions
Booksy and Vagaro both charge per-staff. GlossGenius starts at $24/mo per person. Fresha looks free until the 20% marketplace commission and 2.29% + $0.30 card fee hit. Avana's Pro plan covers up to 3 hairstylists at $45/mo, with each extra at +$5/month — no marketplace commission, no card-processing surcharge.
“I moved off Booksy three months ago and my bill dropped from $110 to $45. Same hairstylists, same volume. The 'free' marketplace tier was quietly costing me real money.”
These are not features — these are the things that change in your daily salon life from day one.
Clients book around the clock
They see your availability and pick their time, even at night and weekends. You only get the confirmation in your inbox.
Up to 80% fewer no-shows
Every appointment gets an automatic email and SMS reminder at 24 hours and 2 hours before. Clients stop forgetting you.
Keep 100% of your service revenue
Avana takes no commission on your bookings. You pay a flat monthly subscription from $15. Card payments run at Stripe's standard rate with nothing added on top. A small booking fee applies to your client when they reserve online.
One link for your bio
Drop it in your Instagram bio, send it via SMS or print it as a QR on your business card. Clients book directly, no account required, no app to download.
Deposits that protect long appointments
For longer or pricier services, take a deposit automatically at booking. If the client doesn't show up, you keep the deposit.
Client records that stay with you
Phone numbers, emails, treatment history, photos and notes — all in one place. Not on a marketplace. With you, exportable any time.
Some salon platforms take a 20% marketplace commission on every new client they send you, or charge a per-staff fee on top of the subscription. Avana doesn't. 0% commission on bookings, up to 3 stylists included on Pro, and 100% of your service revenue stays with the salon. A small booking fee applies when clients book online — the same way any ticketing or reservation platform works. Card payments run at Stripe's standard rate of 2.9% + $0.30 — Avana adds nothing on top. Plans from $15 per month.
Solo
Solo stylists who want bookings, reminders and client records without the admin.
Card payments run at Stripe's standard rate of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. On a $55 payment you receive $53.10. Avana adds nothing on top.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Avana salon booking software.
Can I try Avana before paying?
Yes. Every plan comes with a 7-day free trial, no credit card required. You can set up your booking page, add your services and test the full calendar before deciding.
How long does setup take?
Most salons are live within 15 minutes. You add your services, set your availability and share your booking link. There's nothing to install — everything runs in the browser.
Can I switch from Booksy, Vagaro, Square Appointments or GlossGenius?
Yes. Export your client list as a CSV from any platform — Booksy, Vagaro, Square Appointments, GlossGenius, Schedulicity, Acuity or Fresha — and import it into Avana. We help free of charge with the import and the switch announcement to your regulars via Instagram and SMS. Migration typically takes 30 minutes.
Do clients need to download an app?
No. Clients click your booking link, see your availability and book directly in their browser. No app, no account, no friction.
Can I take deposits for longer treatments?
Yes. Per service you set a deposit amount. If the client doesn't show, you keep the deposit. Standard on Pro and Team plans.
What is Stripe and why does Avana use it?
Stripe is a global payment processor used by Shopify, Amazon, Lyft and millions of businesses to take card payments. Avana plugs into Stripe so your clients can pay by card on your booking page — money lands in your bank account directly from Stripe, not via Avana. We pass Stripe's rate through 1:1 with 0% added.
What do I pay per transaction?
Card payments run at Stripe's standard processing rate: 2.9% + $0.30 in the US. Avana adds nothing on top. On a $55 payment you receive $53.10. You can see the exact breakdown for every transaction in your dashboard.
What is the booking fee?
When a client books online, a small $1.99 fee applies — the same way a booking fee works on any reservation platform. It's shown to the client at the time of booking and is non-refundable if the client cancels. It does not come out of your service revenue.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan includes a 7-day free trial, no credit card required. You can set up your booking page, add your services and test the full calendar before deciding.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans, no contract, cancel from your dashboard.
