No. You pay Avana no commission, no booking fees and no setup fee. When a member pays online, a small booking fee is part of the price they see from the start: 3%, at least $1.99 and at most $2.79. Classes booked with a pack or membership cost the member nothing extra.
Yes. Avana runs month to month, with no annual contract and no exit fee. After you cancel, everything keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for. You start with a 7-day free trial and only pay if you stay.
Avana imports your members and their remaining credit from a CSV or Excel export of your current system, and we help you for free. Each member gets a pack with the classes they had left and its expiry date, and carries on booking straight away.
Yes. For each class you decide how many credits it takes from a pack, anywhere from zero to ten, so a reformer class might take two and a mat class one. You sell a single pack for your whole schedule, and Avana keeps track of every member's balance.
Every reformer class gets exactly as many spots as you have machines. If two members tap the last spot at the same moment, only one of them gets that reformer and the other sees the class is full. That second member can join the waitlist straight away.
Yes, Studio Plus includes a shop for your own products, such as grip socks or a water bottle. A member orders when they book or in the app and collects it at their next class. The money is already in your own account by then.
Yes. On Studio Max, members pick a reformer on a map of your room when they book. Each machine can only be booked once per class, so you never have more members than reformers, and on a course the member keeps the same machine throughout.
Can't see your question? Just ask us. We'll help you set up your schedule, packs and members for free.
Avana takes into account what sets a reformer studio apart from a mat studio. You have a fixed number of machines, each one a serious investment, and often rent that stays the same every month. So every class has a hard ceiling, and a machine left empty is revenue you won't get back.
The ceiling has to hold. Set up eight machines and a class must never take nine bookings, even when two members press the button at the same moment. Avana settles that at the moment of booking: the last machine goes to one member, and the other is told the class is full.
A class on the machine often costs more than a class on the mat. That's why in Avana you choose per class how many credits it uses, from zero to ten. The same ten-class pack then works for your mat class and your reformer class, and you don't have to sell two kinds of pack. For newcomers, set up a trial class: each member can buy it once and picks a class in the same step, so someone who has never been on a reformer can start without a hurdle.
Regulars often have a favorite machine, the one by the window or the one at the front by the mirror. In Avana you let them choose their own reformer on a map of your room, for a whole course if you like. Nobody has to hunt for their place at the door.
A reformer studio earns most when every machine is taken in every class. So in Avana a free reformer goes to the first person on the waitlist without you stepping in, and members see your cancellation window when they book, so everyone knows where they stand.
Many reformer studios would rather sell a membership than loose packs. A set number of classes a month, or unlimited, charged automatically every month, makes your income predictable. A member can cancel their membership in their own account, and it runs until the end of the month already paid for.
Ask about commission on your revenue, the notice period and what it costs to add instructors. Avana takes no commission, can be canceled any month and has plans for one, two or three instructors; you'll find the amounts in the pricing section. Coming from another system? We help you bring your members and their remaining classes across, at no cost.
Teach mat classes alongside the reformer? See what Avana does for a Pilates studio. If yoga is on your schedule as well, look at yoga studio software, or start from the overview for studios.
Almost everyone in a reformer studio has a favorite machine. With Studio Max you draw your room on a map, with each reformer where it actually stands. A member picks a machine when they book, and on a course they keep it for every session. You and the instructor see in advance who is where.
Run more than one room, say a reformer room and a mat room? On Studio Plus you add both. A class in a room can never have more spots than the machines standing in it.
Reformer studios often work with memberships of a set number of classes a month. In Avana the member pays it automatically every month, charged to their card. Want a minimum term of three, six or twelve months, or a month's notice? You set that under More settings.
If a member goes traveling or picks up an injury, you pause the membership. If a payment fails, the member gets a new payment link, and you see everything still outstanding in one list. Read more about studio memberships.
An empty machine at 7 in the morning is a waste. With Studio Plus you hold a few spots per class for ClassPass or Wellhub. Avana has no live link with those platforms: you add their bookings by hand or import the CSV export the platform gives you. Once added, they count towards the class and you tick them off like any other member. See how ClassPass and Wellhub spots work.
An off-peak pack for the quiet afternoon, or a membership capped at two classes a week: on Studio Plus you put rules like these on a pack or membership, and Avana checks them at every booking. A pack can be shared with a partner too, so two people book from the same credit and you see who used which class.
Your members come with you, together with the classes they still have. A CSV or Excel export from your current system is enough, and we set it up with you for free. If you're on Mindbody now, read how switching from Mindbody goes.
A reformer studio needs a system that allows exactly as many bookings as there are machines and refills a free machine at once. Avana does that from $22.99 a month, tax included, with memberships, a waitlist and a trial class on every plan. On Studio Max, members also choose their own reformer on a map.
Set how many credits each class takes, from zero to ten. A reformer class can cost two credits and a mat class one, from the same pack, and members see what comes off before they confirm.
Yes, on Studio Plus you hold a few spots per class for ClassPass or Wellhub. There's no automatic connection, so you add those bookings by hand or from the platform's CSV export, and they count towards the class like your own members.
| What to look for | Why it matters | What Avana does |
|---|---|---|
| A ceiling per machine | Two members on the last reformer makes for an awkward conversation. | As many spots as machines; the last one goes to a single member. |
| A reformer of their own | Regulars want their usual machine. | A map of your room with a reformer per member, on Studio Max. |
| Memberships | Predictable income covers your rent and your machines. | Monthly memberships with a minimum term, notice period and pause, on every plan. |
| Cancellation window | A late cancellation leaves a machine empty. | You set the window; cancel too late and the class counts as used. |
Start with 7 free days and decide after that. If you're coming from another system, we transfer your members and their credit for you.
