No. You pay Avana no commission, no booking fees and no setup fee. When a member pays online, a small booking fee is part of the price they see from the start: 3%, at least $1.99 and at most $2.79. Classes booked with a pack or membership cost the member nothing extra.
Yes. Avana runs month to month, with no annual contract and no exit fee. After you cancel, everything keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for. You start with a 7-day free trial and only pay if you stay.
Avana imports your members and their remaining credit from a CSV or Excel export of your current system, and we help you for free. Each member gets a pack with the classes they had left and its expiry date, and carries on booking straight away.
You choose how many hours before class a member can cancel without losing it. Cancel in time and the class goes back on their pack, and the first person on the waitlist is offered the spot; if they don't take it, it moves on to the next. A late cancellation counts as used.
Yes, on Studio Plus or Studio Max a member checks in at the door with the QR code in the Avana app. They hold their phone to the tablet and are added to that session straight away, so you see attendance per style without a register on the mat.
No, Avana doesn't track belts, grades, gradings or competitions. It runs the schedule, booking and payments, the waitlist and the messages to your members. Anything you want to remember about a student, such as an injury or a goal, goes in a note on their member card.
Yes, with Studio Max you attach a contract to a membership. The member reads and signs it on their phone when they buy, with a finger or by typing their name. A minimum term or notice period can already be set on Studio Plus, without a contract.

Avana keeps the schedule and the members of your martial arts school in order, so you can get on with teaching. Many schools run several disciplines under one roof: kickboxing in the ring, BJJ and judo on the mat, karate or MMA for those who want the lot. Software for a martial arts school has to keep those styles and levels clear, and make sure every session has enough people to pair up.
In Avana you create each session once, with a name, a length, a level, an instructor and a maximum number of places. A weekly session appears on the schedule months in advance. Junior Judo, Kickboxing Fundamentals and advanced BJJ sit next to each other, and a member can see which one fits. Each session also has its own page with a description, the instructor and the days it repeats.
You label every session as beginner, some experience needed, advanced or all levels. An open mat or an extra session for a visiting seminar goes in on its own date. When the mat is full, members can join the waitlist.
If you have one room with mats and another with a ring, Studio Plus lets you set both up. You choose the room for each session, and Avana never puts two sessions in the same room at once. A session also never gets more places than its room allows.
Teach in two places, say your own school and a leisure center hall? With Studio Plus you put multiple locations on one schedule, and every email to members carries the right address.
People who want to learn a martial art usually want to try it first. Each newcomer can buy one trial class with you and choose a session in the same step. With Studio Max you then sell a beginners' course as a single package: the whole group books and pays for every session at once and starts together.
On Studio Plus a new member accepts your house rules at their first booking: short nails, clean kit, on the mat on time. In the same step they fill in a short health questionnaire, so you and your instructors know about any injury.
Most students train on a membership that's charged to their card every month. On Studio Plus you can set a minimum term or a notice period, and add limits to a membership, such as at most two sessions a week. If a member goes away for a while, you pause the membership.
If you work with contracts, Studio Max attaches one to the membership. The member reads and signs it at purchase, and Avana keeps a record of which version they signed. For people who train irregularly, sell a class pack that's valid until a date you pick.
After the trial class, a newcomer decides whether to stay. On Studio Plus they automatically get a welcome after their first session, and an intro offer, such as three sessions at a lower price, makes the step to a membership smaller. Each member can buy that offer once.
Insights shows you each month how many trial classes become regular students, which style is growing fastest and where another session would fill.
Every instructor has a profile and login of their own, and sees who is booked into their sessions. On Studio Plus you tick off who is present at each session and can see how often a member missed one. If an instructor is off, one message asks your team for cover.
Junior sessions go on the schedule as sessions in their own right, with the age range in the name and a cap that suits the group. Parents book them on your page, and the reminder says what to bring, such as a water bottle. On Studio Plus two children from one family can share one pack or membership.
Look at commission, at the contract and at how easily a member can book a session. With Avana you pay no commission, can cancel any month, and members book without a password in the browser or the app. What each plan costs a month is in the pricing section. If you're coming from another system, we bring your members and their remaining sessions across for free; for Mindbody users there's a guide to switching from Mindbody.
Mainly a boxing gym, or do you run bootcamp and HIIT as well? Those sessions go on the same schedule. An overview of every kind of studio is on the studio software page.
Avana keeps no record of belts, grades, gradings or competitions, and it doesn't pair people up for sparring. Notes about a student go on their member card. Avana looks after the schedule, the members and the payments, and the art itself stays yours.
Booking software for a martial arts school should put every style and level on one schedule, with a cap per session and a waitlist. Avana does that on every plan, with class packs and monthly memberships, and Studio Plus adds separate rooms for the mat and the ring.
With Studio Max you sell a course in Avana: the whole group books and pays for every session in one go and starts together. Afterwards each member moves on to the regular schedule with a pack or membership.
On Studio Plus you add your house rules to Avana, such as short nails and clean kit, and every new member accepts them at their first booking. Avana stores when they agreed and to which version, and asks again whenever you change the text.
| What to look for | Why it matters | What Avana does |
|---|---|---|
| Styles and levels | Kickboxing for beginners is a different thing from advanced BJJ. | Each session with its own name, level and instructor on one schedule. |
| Mat and ring | Two sessions in one room at the same time doesn't work. | Rooms that can't be double-booked, on Studio Plus. |
| Beginners | A group that starts together is more likely to stay. | Courses a group books in one go, on Studio Max. |
| Contracts | Many schools work with a yearly membership. | A contract the member signs at purchase, on Studio Max. |
Seven days free with your own styles and sessions. You only pay once you decide to stay, and moving your students over costs nothing.
