The Avana Academy is the course platform from Avana for salons and beauty professionals in the UK: you sell your own course with lessons online, a practical day in your calendar and a certificate with the learner's name on it, and no commission is taken from your course price. Learners sign themselves up, and you just teach.

The Avana Academy is for salons that already pass on what they know: to a junior, to a client who wants to start out on their own, to the person who keeps asking in your DMs. With the Avana Academy you get paid for that teaching.
Learners watch the theory at home. All you give is the day in your salon, on a date that suits you.
Nothing from your course price comes to us. That stays true if your course turns into a premium one.
Someone who learned with you already knows your work. Point them to your next course and it is waiting as soon as the first one is finished. Your starter kit can go in your shop as a product.
You put your explanation together once, and everyone who signs up after that works through the same lessons as often as they need. A lesson can be a video, but it can just as well be text with photos or the workbook you already hand out. Learners ask questions under the lesson itself, and you answer when you have a moment. On the practical day you have someone beside you who already knows the theory, and that saves you the whole first hour.
A lot of salons put their course off because being on camera feels awkward. You can build a lesson entirely from text and photos, the way you would explain it on paper. If you do want to be seen, prop your phone up and talk it through the way you would with a junior. Once, and it does not have to be perfect.
You pick the dates and learners choose one that works for them. That time is then blocked in your calendar, so nothing gets booked over it.
A learner signs up on your course page and you get an email. Take payment by a bank transfer, cash or a payment link you already use. Paste your own payment link into the course and it appears as a button in the invitation, so the money comes straight to you. If you would rather they pay online, that happens by itself.
Add a few questions to your course and you can see who has really got it. After a wrong answer the explanation appears straight away: what the right answer was, and why. Make the quiz compulsory before anyone books a practical day, and everyone arrives with the theory in place.
When everything is finished, the certificate lands in their inbox. If your course has a practical day, it goes out as soon as you mark the learner as present. It carries your salon name, your own wording and your signature. That is what ends up on Instagram, and it is where your next learner comes from. Ask for a review at the same time, because that is what convinces the next person on the fence.
People who have just learned with you usually want more. You choose which course comes next, and it appears as soon as the first one is complete.
Most salons already teach, and organising each course takes an evening of messages. The table shows what the Avana Academy takes over.
| How it works now | With the Academy | |
|---|---|---|
| Signing up | Messages back and forth and a list on your phone | The learner signs up and you can see it |
| Who has paid | Kept track of in your notes | You invite them once the money is in, and the course opens |
| The theory | The same talk for every learner | Put together once, everyone works through it |
| The workbook | A file sent over WhatsApp or email | Attached to the lesson, always to hand |
| The practical day | Typed into your calendar by hand | The learner picks a date and it is in straight away |
| Moving a date | Messaging everyone separately with the new time | Move the day and everyone gets an email |
| Afterwards | A message to say it went well | A named certificate, in your colours |
| And then | You never hear from each other again | Your next course is right there underneath |
| What it costs | Nothing except your evenings | £8.99 a month with your plan, or £9.99 on its own |
All of this is there from your first course.
A video, a piece of text with photos or a file to download. You add it from your phone, and only your learners can see it.
A few questions that have to be passed first, with an explanation for every mistake.
You set the dates, learners choose one and the place is theirs. A full day shows as full on your course page.
Questions come in under the lesson, and you reply when you have time. You can see which lessons each learner has finished. If someone stalls, one tap sends a nudge.
A fixed price, free or on request, and you choose how people pay: your own payment link, cash or online.
Choose the course that comes next and learners see it as soon as they are done. Add a discount code just for people who have trained with you before.

You could, and for selling videos alone they work well. For a salon, they miss the most important part: they know nothing about your calendar or your clients. The Academy works both ways: added to your plan, or on its own if you take bookings somewhere else. You can see the platforms side by side in our course platform comparison.
| Avana Academy | A course platform | |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay each month | £8.99 on top of your Avana plan, or £9.99 on its own | Teachable from $39, Kajabi from $179 |
| Your practical day | Sits in your normal calendar | Kept somewhere else, by hand |

Prices from the providers' own pricing pages, checked on 10 October 2026. Teachable charges $39 a month on its Starter plan and keeps 7.5% of each sale on that plan. Kajabi starts at $179 a month. Both bill in US dollars. Avana prices include VAT.
More and more salons sell what they know as well as their treatments. A lash tech runs a classic lash course with a model day, a hairdresser a balayage masterclass, a nail tech a BIAB course and a beauty therapist a course in chemical peels. Anyone who wants to sell an online course usually ends up on a standalone course platform. Those know nothing about your calendar, so the practical day has to be organised somewhere else.
The Avana Academy is the part of Avana you use to create and sell courses, inside the booking system you already run. The practical day sits in your normal calendar, and you choose per course how learners pay: by a bank transfer, cash or a payment link you already use, or online. Every online sale comes with an invoice in your salon's name. If you take bookings somewhere else, you can have the Academy on its own.
You start from one of six examples, so never from a blank screen. A lesson is a piece of text with photos, a workbook as a file, a multiple-choice quiz or a video from your phone. Filming is not a requirement: a course made of text and workbooks earns a certificate just the same. You pick a category and a level, and Avana shows whether your course is online, in person or both. Nothing is published until you are happy with it.
Learners follow the lessons on their phone, ask questions under the lesson they are about and keep their own notes. They choose their practical day themselves, and can switch to another date with space up to 48 hours before. Videos only play inside the learner's own account, with their email address shown on screen. If you ever stop using the Academy, your learners keep access to the lessons. If you have to move a day, everyone booked on it gets an email.
A quiz with an explanation for every wrong answer has to be passed before the course is complete, and you can make it compulsory before learners book the practical day. The certificate carries your salon, your own wording and your name, plus a number anyone can check on the certificate check page. It is a certificate of completion for your course, not a regulated qualification. Some insurers only cover treatments learned on courses they recognise, so it is worth knowing what the main insurers in your trade accept.
Every course gets its own page under your salon page, with the details search engines look for on a course: what it is, who teaches it, where and when the practical days are. You can set the title and description for Google yourself, so a search for your course and your town can lead straight to you.
For every course you choose which one comes next. It appears at the end as soon as a learner finishes, in the email with the certificate and on your course page. You can add your own discount code for people who have completed a course with you. The code is shown, never applied automatically, so you stay in control of the price.
Yes. The theory lives online, and you hold the practical day at home, at the chair or room you rent, or in a space you hire for the day. You set the address per date, and it goes into the learner's confirmation. If you do not use Avana for appointments, take the Academy on its own.
Any trade where you teach something people do with their hands: lash courses, hair and barbering courses, nail courses, beauty courses and PMU and brow courses. You add the Academy to your Avana plan for £8.99 a month, or take it on its own for £9.99. With the standalone Academy and with Business, 3 courses can be online at once; with Business Plus and Max, as many as you like. See what it costs.
No. A lesson in the Avana Academy can be text with photos, or a workbook you already have, and it counts towards the certificate just the same. If you do want to film, your phone is enough, and you upload from that same phone.
With the Avana Academy you put the theory online as lessons, add practical days that go straight into your salon calendar, and share your course page so learners can sign up. When they finish, the Avana Academy sends a named certificate with a check number. It costs £8.99 a month added to an Avana plan, or £9.99 on its own, and no commission is taken from your course price.
No. In the Avana Academy you choose per course how learners pay. If you handle it yourself, they pay by a bank transfer, cash or a payment link you already use, and you invite them once the money has arrived. If they pay online, any service fee is already included in the price shown on your course page, and nothing comes off your course price.
You add the Avana Academy to your Avana plan for £8.99 a month, on the same invoice, with discount codes, a taster lesson, reviews and a waitlist included. With Business, 3 courses can be online at once (£24.98 a month together); with Business Plus there is no limit (£37.98 together). Business Max already includes the Academy.
Yes. You can take the Avana Academy on its own for £9.99 a month, without the booking system, with 3 courses online at once. If you do use Avana for appointments, add it to your plan instead, and your practical day sits in the same calendar as your clients.
Yes. With the Avana Academy you sell your own course under your own name, and you decide what goes in it. The certificate confirms someone completed your course; it is not a regulated qualification. If your learners will need insurance to practise, check which courses the main insurers in your trade recognise.
Yes, especially if your course includes a practical day in your salon. Teachable and Kajabi are built for selling online courses and know nothing about your appointments. In the Avana Academy your lessons, payment, the practical day in your calendar and the certificate are all in one place.
Yes. With the Avana Academy the theory goes online and you hold the practical day at home, at a chair or room you rent, or in a hired space. You set the address for each date. Without the Avana booking system, take the Academy on its own for £9.99 a month.
In the Avana Academy you move the day to another date or time. The appointment in your calendar moves with it, and everyone booked on it gets an email with the old and new time. If one learner cannot make it, one tap moves them to another date with space.
Through an email from the Avana Academy with a link, so learners never have to invent a password. After that they stay signed in on their phone. Videos only play inside their own account, with their email address on screen, and cannot be downloaded.
Start with Avana and add the Academy for £8.99 a month, on the same invoice as your plan. Cancel any month, and your learners keep their access if you stop.
