Someone cancels and the gap fills again
Clients on the waitlist hear when a slot opens that fits your hours. The waitlist comes with Avana Business Plus and Business Max.
In Avana you set your opening hours, breaks, days off and alternating weeks once, and your booking page only offers times when the whole service fits. It's in every Avana plan, so you never have to undo a booking made on your day off.

It's all in your settings, on your phone or your laptop. Whatever you save is right on your booking page straight away.
Tap a day, set it to open and choose your times in fifteen-minute steps. Copy Tuesday's hours to Wednesday through Friday in one go.
Adding a break splits your day in two, with up to two breaks a day. If you prefer working in blocks, set fixed start times per day, such as 09:00, 11:00 and 14:00.
A single day goes in as a one-off change, a holiday as days off. If there are already appointments in that time, Avana tells you how many.
If your colleague only works Thursdays and Fridays, they get a week of their own. Anyone booking with them only sees those hours.
A booking system is only as good as the hours it works from. Avana uses yours everywhere clients can book, so nobody lands on your day off or in your lunch break.
Whatever you close can't be booked online. You'll never again have to message a client to say it doesn't work after all.
Your break is fixed in your opening hours. A one-hour colour that would start at twelve simply isn't offered online.
Every other Saturday off, or a late evening once every four weeks: your schedule repeats and clients see the right times for each date.
How it goes without fixed hours in your system, and how it goes when your schedule lives in Avana.
| Without a system | With Avana | |
|---|---|---|
| Someone asks if Saturday works | Check your diary between clients and reply | Clients see what's free themselves |
| Your lunch | Blocked again every day, or forgotten | Fixed in your opening hours |
| A long colour at 12:00 | Runs straight through your break | Not offered online |
| Every other Saturday off | Working out which week it is | Your schedule knows which week it is |
| Two weeks' holiday | Bookings in your holiday to cancel | Set once, those days are closed |
| Boxing Day | Hoping nobody books | Set to closed once |
Each part of your availability in Avana takes a few taps and applies straight away on your booking page and the booking button on your website.
You can always book clients yourself. In your calendar you can add someone in the evening, in your break or on a closed day; your opening hours only stop online bookings.
Three parts of Avana that work from the same hours, so they're always right.
Clients on the waitlist hear when a slot opens that fits your hours. The waitlist comes with Avana Business Plus and Business Max.
Connect Google Calendar and a private event there is closed to clients as well. Your regular hours live in Avana, one-off things in Google.
Each person gets their own week and break. A colleague's day off only closes their hours, while you stay bookable.
You set your opening hours in Avana's settings, under opening hours. Tap a day, set it to open, choose your start and finish and save. You can copy the same hours to other days in one go, and your booking page updates straight away.
In Avana you add a break to the day in your opening hours. Adding a break splits a day into two blocks, and the time between them is your break, with up to two breaks a day. The break stays at the time you choose; a lunch that moves with your appointments doesn't exist in Avana, so if you want a longer lunch once, block that time in your calendar.
Yes, Avana supports alternating schedules. Choose an alternating schedule and how many weeks it repeats after: two, three or four. Then set each week separately, and clients see the right week's hours for each date.
In Avana you add a holiday as days off, with a first and last day. A single day such as Boxing Day goes in as a one-off change set to closed. Avana doesn't close public holidays automatically, so do it in good time, because clients can often book weeks ahead.
Existing appointments stay as they are when you change your hours in Avana. Avana doesn't cancel anything or message the client; your new hours apply to what clients book online from now on, and anything that now falls outside your hours you move yourself in your calendar.
Yes, you can always add a client to your Avana calendar yourself. Your opening hours only stop online bookings. In your calendar you can book a client in the evening, in your break or on a closed day: you'll see a warning and can book them in anyway.
No. Opening hours, breaks, days off, alternating weeks and fixed start times are in every Avana plan. A separate schedule for a colleague only matters once someone works with you; see multiple staff.
When a client pays online, a small service fee is part of the price they see from the very first screen: 3% of the booking, at least £1.49 and at most £2.29. You pay nothing on your takings, because Avana charges no commission. That small amount from the client is what lets us pay you out in full, so the whole treatment price stays with you.

Setting your availability is the part of a booking system you see least and notice most. Get it right and nobody books on your day off, no colour runs through your lunch and you never have to message a client back. In Avana you set your opening hours per day with one or two fixed breaks, and they apply straight away on your booking page, in the booking button on your website and when a client reschedules.
Then you handle the days that are different. A public holiday or a late-opening evening is a one-off change; a holiday or a free afternoon goes in as days off. If you work alternating weeks, your schedule repeats after two, three or four weeks. To have clients start only at fixed times, or to fill your day more tightly, see how buffer time and fixed start times work together. A private event in Google Calendar closes that hour as well.
It all comes together in your online calendar, where you can always book anything yourself. When someone cancels, the waitlist in Business Plus can fill the gap, but only with a time that fits your schedule. If someone helps out, they get a week of their own as a team member. Setting your hours is part of every plan, which you can compare on the pricing page.
Your availability is the schedule clients can book you on online: your working days, hours per day, breaks and days off. Every salon taking online bookings needs it, and it matters most when you work alone with nobody to catch a mistake. A hairdresser who collects the kids on Wednesdays, a nail tech who works two evenings, a beauty therapist with a long lunch: if it's wrong, someone books a time you're not there and you end up cancelling.
In Avana you set up to three blocks per day, and the gaps between them are your breaks. If your schedule changes week to week, it repeats after one to four weeks. For one unusual day, use a one-off change; for time off and holidays, use days off. Your booking page, the booking button on your website and your waitlist all use the same schedule, but public holidays don't close themselves, so add those as days off yourself.
Put your break in your opening hours rather than blocking it each day. In Avana, adding a break splits the day into two blocks, say 09:00 to 12:30 and 13:00 to 18:00, and the time between is closed. If your break is the same every day, copy it to the other days.
Avana then looks at more than the start time. A service that would run into your break isn't offered either: if a facial takes an hour and your break starts at 12:30, 11:30 is the latest slot before it, and any buffer time must fall before the break too. A day has at most two breaks, and a break is fixed, so to eat later one day, block that time in your calendar.
A one-off change alters your opening hours for one date, a day off closes time over your schedule, and a block is something you put in your calendar for a moment. All three stop online bookings, but each suits a different situation.
Use a one-off change for a public holiday or a late-opening evening: you see that day's hours and adjust them. Use days off when you're away longer or when it's about one colleague; you choose a whole day, part of a day or several days, and before saving Avana tells you how many appointments are already booked then. A block in your calendar is for a one-off appointment of your own, like a meeting with a supplier. If something comes back every week, put it in your schedule so you never have to think about it again.
Avana is a booking system where you set your opening hours, breaks, days off and fixed start times per day. On your booking page and the booking button on your website, clients only see times where the whole service fits: not through your break, not past closing time and not on a day you've closed. If you work alternating weeks, your schedule repeats after two, three or four weeks. A public holiday or a vacation is closed once, existing appointments stay as they are, and you can always book clients yourself in your calendar. It's all in every plan. For a solo salon, Avana Business costs £15.99 a month, VAT included, which is £0.53 a day.
