Teach your balayage, your fades or your colour technique to people learning the trade. The theory lives online, so the day at the chair is all about cutting and colouring.

The Avana Academy is the course platform from Avana for salons and beauty professionals in the UK: you sell your own course with lessons online, a practical day in your calendar and a certificate with the learner's name on it, and no commission is taken from your course price. Yes: you sell your masterclass under your own salon name, in the same system as your calendar. The day at the chair is an appointment with a set number of places, and only the trainer's calendar is blocked that day.
You can put more than one trainer on a course. Your best barber runs the barbering day while you keep cutting.
Developer, processing times, neutralising and your formulas are all ready as lessons. On the day itself, everyone goes straight to the chair.
A one-day masterclass or a course over two days: add the practical days to your course and learners choose a date for each.
You start from one of six examples and fill in your own lessons. Most masterclasses are ready in an evening.
Sectioning, placement, lightening, rinsing and toning: each step becomes a lesson. Film it on your phone while you work on a model, or explain it in text with photos of the result. Your formulas hang underneath as a file.
You choose the dates, the number of chairs and who teaches. The day lands in the calendar of that hairdresser as an appointment that blocks the time.
Your masterclass gets its own page under your salon name. Learners sign up and pick a date. If you want a fixed group first, you invite them yourself.
You add the Academy to your Avana plan for £8.99 a month, on the same invoice. If you use a different booking system, take it on its own for £9.99.
With a plan, the Academy is on the same invoice. Business Max includes it.Try it for 7 days with everything switched on, for one learner and one course. All prices include VAT, and you can cancel any month.
Most hairdressers who teach fell into it. A junior wanted to learn your balayage, a young barber asked about your fades, and suddenly there were three people round your chair on a Monday. If it keeps happening, turn it into a masterclass with a set price, a set day and a certificate. The Avana Academy runs it in the same system as your calendar.
Look at what you are known for. A colour specialist teaches a balayage or blonding masterclass, a barbershop a barbering day with fades and cut-throat razor shaves, a salon that does a lot of brides a day of hair-ups. A styling workshop can also be for your own clients: styling curls, a blow-dry or a braid.
Anything you can explain at a table goes into the lessons: colour theory, developer and processing time, sectioning, placement and your formulas. A short colour theory quiz, compulsory before the day can be booked, makes sure everyone arrives with the same basics. On the day, learners work on a model while you watch. For a two-day course, add two practical days and learners pick a date for each.
You can put more than one trainer on a course. The day then blocks only the calendar of the hairdresser teaching it, and the rest of the salon stays bookable. Your best barber can run the barbering day while you stand behind your own chair. Read more about working as a team on multiple team members.
Add what you expect from the model to the day, for example uncoloured hair down to the shoulders, so learners know who to bring. They bring their own model, or you ask a client who would love a free appointment. Your product list goes with the lesson as a file.
Work it out from the day at the chair, the number of places, the products you use and the questions you will still answer afterwards. A small group with lots of attention can cost more. None of your price goes to Avana, and if learners pay online, any service fee is already included in the price they see. Every online sale comes with an invoice in your salon's name.
Your masterclass gets its own page under your salon page, with a title you set for Google yourself. Put the link in your bio, tell your juniors and let every certificate do its work on Instagram. If you already use the hair salon software or the barbershop booking software, everything sits under one login.
With the Avana Academy, a hairdresser or barber puts the theory online as lessons, adds days at the chair that go straight into the salon calendar, and shares a course page where learners sign up. Learners who finish get a named certificate with a check number, and no commission is taken from the course price.
Yes. With the Avana Academy you teach your own masterclass under your salon name and decide what goes in it. The certificate confirms someone completed your course; it is not a regulated qualification such as an NVQ, and it does not need to be for a masterclass.
Yes. In the Avana Academy you add a colleague as trainer on the course. The day then blocks that colleague's calendar, and the rest of the salon stays bookable, so your best barber runs the day while you keep cutting.
In the Avana Academy you add what you expect from the model to the practical day, for example uncoloured hair down to the shoulders. Learners read it in the course before the day starts. They bring their own model, or you ask one of your clients.
Yes. In the Avana Academy you add two practical days to one course. Learners choose a date for each, and both days sit in the trainer's calendar. The theory in between is watched at home, so day two does not start with going over old ground.
Yes, Avana can do that in two ways. A styling workshop with lessons and a certificate goes in the Academy. A one-off evening with a few places and no lessons around it is planned as a workshop or group booking in your calendar.
You choose that per course in the Avana Academy. Learners pay by a bank transfer, cash or a payment link you already use, or online with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. If they pay online, any service fee is included in the price shown from the start, and nothing comes off your course price.
You add the Avana Academy to your Avana plan for £8.99 a month, with more than one trainer included, such as a colleague who runs the barbering day. Without the booking system, take it on its own for £9.99. All prices include VAT.
