What does it cost to sell courses with Avana?

The Avana Academy costs £8.99 a month added to an Avana plan, or £9.99 a month on its own, VAT included. It has everything in it, for as many learners as you can teach, and nothing from your course price comes to us.

What you sell

What comes off my course price?

Nothing. What you charge, you keep

We take no commission on your course price, including on training that runs over several days. The amount on your course page is the amount that reaches you.

Payment works the way you want

Learners can pay you directly by a bank transfer, cash or a payment link you already use, at no extra cost. If you choose online payment, any service fee is part of the price the learner sees on your course page from the start, so there are no surprises when they pay.

You are the seller on the invoice

Every online sale produces an invoice in your salon's name. You set the VAT rate per course, including zero if your course is exempt.

About the pricing

What selling a course through Avana costs, and what it does not

Added to your plan, or on its own

The Avana Academy comes two ways. If you use Avana for appointments, add it to your plan for £8.99 a month, with everything you need to bring in more learners. With Business you pay £24.98 a month together and can have 3 courses online at once; with Business Plus it is £37.98 together, with as many courses as you like. Business Max includes the Academy. If you use another system, take the Academy on its own for £9.99 a month, with 3 courses online at once, your own course page and a practical day you add to your own calendar from a link.

No commission on your course price

None of your course price goes to Avana. If learners pay you directly, by a bank transfer, cash or a payment link you already use, nothing else is added either. If they pay online, any service fee is shown inside the price from the start, and your salon appears as the seller on the invoice.

Compared with a standalone course platform

A standalone course platform costs from $39 a month at Teachable and from $179 at Kajabi, on top of your booking system. Teachable also keeps 7.5% of every sale on its Starter plan. And because those platforms do not know your calendar, the practical day still has to be organised separately. See them side by side in our course platform comparison.

Cancelling

All prices include VAT, you can cancel any month, and the Academy sits on the same invoice as your plan. If you cancel, your learners keep access to their course. See how it works for lash techs, hairdressers, nail techs, beauty therapists and PMU artists.

Questions

Questions about Academy pricing

Do I need an Avana subscription to sell courses?

No. You can take the Avana Academy on its own for £9.99 a month, without the booking system. If you use Avana for appointments, add it to your plan for £8.99 a month instead, and your practical day sits in the same calendar as your clients.

Is the Academy included in any Avana plan?

Business Max includes the Avana Academy at no extra cost. On Business and Business Plus you add it for £8.99 a month. Without a plan, it is £9.99 a month on its own.

How many courses and learners can I have?

As many learners as you can teach. Courses depend on your plan: on its own and with Business, 3 can be online at once; with Business Plus and Business Max, as many as you like, and drafts never count. Everything else is included: an early-bird price and discount codes, a free taster lesson, reviews on your course page, a waitlist, your own logo and colour, and more than one trainer.

Can I try the Academy first?

Yes. You can try the Avana Academy for 7 days with everything switched on. In that week you put one course online and invite one learner, so you can see how it works for you and for them. After that you switch it on properly and your plan's limits apply.

What does paying online cost my learners?

If a learner pays online through Avana, they pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and any service fee is already included in the price on your course page. Nothing is added at the end. If you handle payment yourself, by a bank transfer, cash or a payment link you already use, there is nothing on top at all.

How do refunds to a learner work?

If a learner paid online through Avana, you refund them with the refund button next to their name, for the full amount or part of it. You decide separately, with its own tick box, whether they keep access to the lessons afterwards.

Do learners have a cooling-off period?

Yes. Under UK consumer law, someone who buys your course online has 14 days to change their mind. For online lessons, that right ends once the learner has agreed that the lessons can start straight away; the Avana Academy includes that tick box and records when it was ticked. Avana's terms explain the rest.

How do I decide what my course should cost?

Build it up from the bottom: your hours before and on the practical day, your materials, what your models receive and any VAT you have to charge. The Avana Academy adds nothing of ours on top. A small group with lots of one-to-one attention can carry a higher price than a large one.

Can I cancel monthly, and what happens to my learners?

Yes, the Avana Academy is billed monthly and you can cancel any month. Your learners keep access to their course: the lessons stay open, their certificate stays valid and a booked practical day stays in place. What stops is the new work: inviting new learners and publishing or editing courses.
