Sell salon packages that count themselves down

Avana lets you sell a course of treatments, such as three facials or ten massages, for one price and counts the sessions down automatically. Packages are in every Avana plan, and each appointment shows which session it is and what's been paid.

PackageCash book

Each part counts on the day it's paid

If the client pays cash for the second session, it's in your cash book and that day's close. A session with nothing paid counts as a treatment, not as takings. The cash book comes with Business Plus.

PackageConfirmation

Clients see which session it is

The confirmation shows session 2 of 3, what's been paid and what's due at this appointment. No questions at the desk.

PackageLoyalty card

A package isn't the same as a loyalty card

With a package the client pays up front for a set number of sessions. The loyalty card rewards regulars with a stamp after every visit. You can use both side by side.

What a package can do

Everything inside a package

Avana's packages work for a course of three facials as much as a card of ten cuts.

Questions

Packages in Avana

How do I sell a course of treatments at my salon?

In Avana you sell it as a package. Switch on a package for a service you already have, with the number of sessions and the price for the whole package. When booking you choose single or package, and every later appointment comes out of the package with its number, such as 2 of 3.

Can clients pay for a package in installments?

Yes. At each Avana appointment from the package you choose what the client pays: this session's amount, everything, nothing or your own amount. Avana spreads what's outstanding over the remaining sessions so it's settled exactly after the last one.

Can a client buy a package online?

Yes, if you choose to sell the whole package online for that service. Your booking page then shows the package price, and after online payment the package starts with session 1 in your calendar. Online payments need to be on for that.

Can clients book their later package sessions online?

No, you book later sessions yourself. After saving a session, Avana suggests a date four weeks after the last one, which you can change. If a client books online anyway, you'll see that a package is running and can move it into the package with one tap.

What happens if a client cancels a session from the package?

A canceled session goes back into the package, and anything already paid stays as it is. You book the session again later and it comes out of the package as usual.

How does a package count towards my takings?

Avana counts a package on the day it's paid, at the appointment where it's paid. If the client pays everything up front, it counts at that first appointment; a session with nothing paid counts as a treatment, not takings. Cash also appears in your cash book, from Business Plus.

I already have clients with paper course cards. Can I move them across?

Yes. In Avana, open the client and add a package: choose the service, how many sessions they've had and what's already been paid. The next appointment then comes out of it automatically.

What's the difference between a treatment package and a loyalty card?

They work differently. With a package the client pays up front for a set number of the same treatment. The loyalty card rewards regulars after a number of visits. Both are included in every Avana plan.

Is there a service fee, and who pays it?

When a client pays online, a small service fee is part of the price they see from the very first screen: 3% of the booking, at least $1.99 and at most $2.79. You pay nothing on your takings, because Avana charges no commission. That small amount from the client is what lets us pay you out in full, so the whole treatment price stays with you.

Packages for salons

A prepaid package that keeps track of itself

Plenty of treatments only really work when you repeat them: a course of three facials, six laser sessions, or ten cuts for a set price. A salon package gives clients a reason to come back and gives you money and certainty up front. In Avana you add a package to a service you already have, alongside the single price, in your services, and when booking in your calendar you choose single or package.

Where a paper card gives up, Avana carries on. Every package appointment shows which session it is and what's still outstanding, and the confirmation email tells the client the same. Payments count on the day they're made, cash appears in your cash book (from Business Plus), and the aftercare email goes out after each session.

To sell a package online, choose to sell the whole package on that service. Your booking page then shows the package price, and after paying through online payments the package starts. To reward regulars without paying up front, look at the loyalty card, and plan details are on the pricing page.

What is a package of treatments, and which salons is it for?

A package is a set number of the same treatment for one price, such as three facials or ten massages. It suits any salon with treatments that only show real results after a few sessions: a beauty therapist with a skin package, a massage therapist with a series for a stiff back, a brow specialist who maintains brows at regular intervals. The client commits to the whole series, and you know the next appointments are coming.

The tricky part is keeping track: which session is this, what's been paid and what's outstanding? On a paper card or a list, that goes wrong within weeks. In Avana you turn a service you already have into a package of 2 to 20 sessions with its own price next to the single price. When you book the next session it shows session 2 of 3, the confirmation email says so too, and the client card shows what's done and paid.

How should you price a package?

A package is usually the single price times the number of sessions, minus 10 to 15 percent. If a facial is $69 on its own, three is $207, and with roughly 13 percent off you land at $180, or $60 a session. That discount is the reason to choose three now rather than one, and for you the appointments are already in the calendar.

Don't go too deep: ten for the price of six feels generous but means four treatments almost free. Factor in your products and time too. In Avana you see what one session costs in the package next to the single price before you save. If you're unsure between three and five, start with the number your clients already tend to book a row, which you can see on their client card.

Can clients pay for a package in parts?

Yes, and for many clients that makes the step to a full series smaller. A common arrangement is paying each session's share at every visit, or half up front and the rest at the last session. What matters is saying so clearly beforehand and tracking what's been paid, which is exactly where a card goes wrong.

In Avana you choose at each appointment what the client pays: this session's amount, everything, nothing or your own amount, and you see what's paid and what's left. Avana suggests the amount so it's settled exactly at the final session. Clients pay by cash, card or through a payment button in the confirmation email, which works when online payments are on and they have an email address.

Which treatments sell best as a package?

Treatments that only really work after several sessions, or that clients book back to back anyway. In a beauty salon that's facials, microneedling and peels, often in courses of three to six. For hair removal it's laser or waxing in series. A hairdresser might offer a card of ten cuts or a series of hair treatments.

For one-off treatments like bridal hair, a package makes little sense, and a gift card works better, from Business Plus. For regular upkeep without a fixed series, such as gel polish every three weeks, the follow-up invitation from Business Plus brings clients back in time.

The short answer

How do you sell a package of treatments at your salon?

Avana is a booking system that lets you sell a package of treatments and counts the sessions down automatically. You switch on a package for a service you already have, with the number of sessions (2 to 20) and the price for the whole package; single bookings stay possible. When booking, you choose single or package and what the client pays that time: this session, everything, nothing or your own amount. The next appointment shows "from package, session 2 of 3" with what's paid and what's left, and after saving Avana suggests a date for the next session. Clients can also buy the whole package online; you book the later sessions. Packages come with every plan, so Avana Business costs $20.99 a month, tax included, which is $0.69 a day.
