QR code booking for your salon

Avana gives every salon a QR code that opens your booking page, ready to print for your desk or mirror. It's in every Avana plan, so clients book their next visit as they pay while you're already with the next person.

Why a QR code

A fuller calendar without putting your tools down

The best moment to book the next appointment is while the client is still with you. A QR code makes that take seconds.

The next visit is booked before they leave

Clients who scan as they pay pick a date a few weeks out themselves. You don't have to go behind the screen for it.

Helping a walk-in while you work

If someone pops in while you're busy, point to the code. Your free times are right there and booking takes care of itself.

See whether the spot works

Below your code you see how often it was scanned and by how many people. If it's hanging in the wrong place, the numbers show it.

Where to put the code

Anywhere clients pause for a moment

The same code works everywhere. Your scan figures show where it gets used most.

On your front deskWhere clients pay and are already thinking about next time.
By the mirrorClients sit facing it for half an hour, phone in their lap.
In your windowFor people walking past when you're closed or busy.
On your business cardPut the code into your own design with a line like "Scan to book".

Have a screen in your salon? Avana Display shows today's appointments on a tablet or TV. That screen is for viewing rather than booking, and it comes with Avana Business Plus and Business Max.

Putting it up

From your settings to your front desk in five minutes

Avana creates your QR code as soon as your booking page is online. All that's left is printing it.

Your code

Email it to yourself or download it

In your settings, open the QR code and email it to yourself or download it. You get a sharp image, big enough for a poster.

  • Black on white, ready for your own design
  • Never changes, even if you rename your salon
  • In the app, email it to yourself and print from there
The client scans

Camera on the code, booking page open

Clients choose a service and a time, just as through your booking link. Only times that genuinely work are shown.

  • On their own phone, no app needed
  • Your services, prices and free times
  • A deposit if you ask for one
Scans

See how often it gets scanned

Below your code are scans, people, returning people and scans per person. Once there are scans on several days, a daily chart appears too.

  • How many different people scanned
  • How often someone scanned again
  • Move it and see whether it makes a difference
One service

A QR code just for your new lash lift

Open your services, choose the one you want and show its QR code. Anyone who scans arrives with that service already selected.

  • On a poster or flyer for a promotion
  • Clients don't have to search
  • Keeps working if you change the price
With your booking page

What else the code sets in motion

Your QR code is the front door to your booking page. Three parts of Avana that join in behind it.

QR codeNext visit

The visit after that, already suggested

After booking, the client sees a suggestion for next time, such as the same service in six weeks, with one button to book that too.

QR codeLoyalty card

A stamp after every visit

Switch on the loyalty card and clients who book through the code get a stamp automatically after their visit. The loyalty card is in every plan.

QR codeWaitlist

All full? Join the waitlist

If the day a client wants is full, they can join the waitlist. The waitlist comes with Avana Business Plus and Business Max.

Questions

Your salon's QR code

Where do I find my salon's QR code in Avana?

Your Avana QR code is in your settings, under the QR code. On a computer it's also in the menu under your name at the bottom left. Email it to yourself or download it, and print the image.

Do I need to reprint the code if I change something?

No. Your Avana QR code belongs to your account and never changes. If you change your salon name, address or services, the same printed code keeps working.

Can a walk-in book for today using the code?

Yes, if there's still a time free today and your booking rules allow it. If the latest online booking time is set to 24 hours ahead, today's times are closed; to let walk-ins book through the code, choose a short window such as 30 minutes or an hour.

Can I see how many people scan my QR code?

Yes. Below your code in Avana you see scans, people, returning people and scans per person. The number of people is partly estimated, because not every phone can be recognized. With scans on several days you also see a daily chart.

Can I make a QR code for a single service?

Yes. In Avana, open your services, choose the one you want and show its QR code. Anyone who scans lands on your booking page with that service already selected; see also setting up services.

Can I put my logo or a color in the code?

No, Avana's QR code is black on white. You can put it into your own design with your logo and a line like "Scan to book your next appointment" around it. Scan the printed code once yourself before you put it up.

Can clients book on a screen in the salon?

No, clients book through the code on their own phone. Avana Display shows today's appointments on a tablet or TV, but that screen is for viewing only. Display comes with Avana Business Plus and Business Max.

Does the QR code cost extra?

No. The QR code is included in every Avana plan, just like your booking page and the scan figures below the code. Printing it is the only cost, and you only do that once.

Is there a service fee, and who pays it?

When a client pays online, a small service fee is part of the price they see from the very first screen: 3% of the booking, at least $1.99 and at most $2.79. You pay nothing on your takings, because Avana charges no commission. That small amount from the client is what lets us pay you out in full, so the whole treatment price stays with you.

The short answer

How do clients book with a QR code?

Avana gives every salon a QR code that clients scan to book an appointment on their own phone. You find it in your settings, email or download it and print it once: the code never changes, even when you change your name or services. Anyone who scans lands on your booking page and chooses a service and a time, with only genuinely free times shown. Below the code you see how often it was scanned and by how many people, and each service can have its own QR code with that service already selected. The QR code is in every plan. For a solo salon, Avana Business costs $20.99 a month, tax included, which is $0.69 a day.

QR code booking for salons

Booking by QR code, right there in the salon

A QR code for bookings turns your front desk, mirror or window into a place where clients book for themselves. They point their phone camera at the code and land on your booking page, with your services, prices and free times. In Avana the code is ready in your settings: email it to yourself or download it, print it once, and it keeps working.

The best moment is when a client pays. They're happy, already thinking about next time, and holding their phone anyway. If they scan then, the next appointment is booked before the door closes, often followed by a suggestion for the visit after. A deposit, the reminder the day before and, if you use it, a stamp on the loyalty card follow automatically.

Below your code you can see how often it was scanned, by how many people and how often someone came back, so you know whether it's in the right place. Online you share your normal booking link, and on your website you add the booking button with the same free times. If a day is full, clients can join the waitlist from Business Plus. For what each plan costs, head to the pricing page.

What is a booking QR code, and which salons is it for?

A booking QR code is a small square clients scan with their phone camera to open your online booking page. They choose a service and a time and the appointment is in your calendar. It works best for salons with regulars who keep coming back, such as hairdressers, barbers and nail techs, and at moments when you have no time to check your calendar: when someone's paying, or when a walk-in arrives while you're with a client.

In Avana your code is in your settings, ready to email or download. The image is larger and sharper than on screen, so it scans well even on a poster. Print it, or put it into your own design with your logo, and scan the printed version once to check it opens your own page. The code never changes, even if you change your name, address or services.

Where should a QR code go so people actually scan it?

At eye level, somewhere clients wait for a moment or already have their phone in hand. A code tucked in a corner behind the desk won't be seen.

The front desk almost always works, because that's where clients pay and think about next time. In a hair salon the mirror works well too, since clients sit facing it for half an hour. In a nail studio put it on the table next to your lamp, and in a beauty salon in the waiting area. In your window it catches people walking past when you're closed. Make the code at least the size of a beer mat with a short line of text, then check your scan figures after a few weeks and move it if it's not being used.

How do you get clients to book their next appointment before they leave?

Make it so easy that it happens naturally at the desk, and mention it: "If you like, you can book your next appointment here." If you have to check the calendar yourself between clients, you often don't ask.

With a QR code on your desk, the client does the work: scan, pick a date six weeks out, done, while you collect your next client. After booking, Avana often suggests the visit after that too, such as the same service six weeks later, with one button to book it. A reminder goes out the day before, so an appointment booked far ahead doesn't get forgotten. For hairdressers and nail techs with regulars, this is often the difference between a calendar that fills itself and starting from scratch every week.

QR code or booking link: which works better?

Both, in different places. A QR code is for people in your salon, a booking link for people you talk to online. Both lead to the same booking page with the same free times.

A link is easy in your Instagram bio, a message or an email, where clients just tap it. On paper a link doesn't work, because nobody types out a web address; that's what the QR code is for, on your desk, mirror, business card or a flyer. To promote one service, such as an offer on lash lifts, make a link or QR code for just that service so clients don't have to search.
