How clients collect

From two choices to a full card, hands-free

You choose after how many visits the card is full and which discount the client gets; Avana counts the rest.

Set it up

Two choices and the rest takes care of itself

After how many visits you reward someone, and with what. The reward is an ordinary discount code, so there's nothing new to learn.

  • Choose the number of visits, from 3 to 20
  • Pick a discount you already have, or create one
  • All services count, or only the ones you choose
Collecting

Every visit that happened is a stamp

A canceled appointment or a no-show doesn't count. A booking with several services is one visit, and you don't keep track of anything.

  • Only appointments that really happened
  • The total appears in every confirmation
  • Add or remove a stamp on the client card
Rewarding

When the card is full, the reward goes out

The client gets an email with a code to use at their next appointment. The code is in their name, so nobody else can use it.

  • The email goes out by itself
  • One use only, in the client's name
  • If that appointment falls through, it comes back

Where a loyalty card does the most

Collecting works best when clients know how far they've got and how little there is to go.

Loyalty cardCampaign

One visit to go

Clients close to a full card come back sooner if you let them know. The loyalty card screen shows who they are, and a campaign messages them all in one go. Campaigns come with Business Max.

The total is on the client card

You see at a glance how far along the person in front of you is, and add or remove a stamp if needed.

Pick a discount you already use, or create a new reward. It then sits among your other codes, labeled as a loyalty reward.

Questions

The loyalty program, answered

What is Avana's loyalty card?

A digital punch card for your clients. Every visit that went ahead is a stamp, and after the number of visits you choose, the client automatically gets a reward by email: a discount code in their name. You don't keep track of anything and there's no card to lose.

How do I make a digital punch card for my salon?

Switch on the loyalty card in your dashboard and make two choices: after how many visits the card is full, from 3 to 20, and which discount the client gets. There's nothing to design, print or hand out, and clients don't need an app. From that day, every visit counts.

What reward can a salon loyalty card give?

Avana's loyalty reward is an amount or a percentage off, as an ordinary discount code. Choose one you already have, or create a new reward; it then sits among your other codes, labeled as a loyalty reward.

When does a client get a stamp?

After an appointment that really happened. If it was canceled or the client didn't show, the visit doesn't count. A booking with several services is one visit, the stamp follows a few hours after the visit, and you can add or remove a stamp yourself on the client card.

How do clients know how many stamps they have?

The total is in every confirmation email, and after each visit they get an email with the new total. When there's one visit to go, it's highlighted.

Can a client pass their loyalty reward on to someone else?

No. The reward code is in the name of the client who earned it and can be used once. If someone else enters it, there's no reward waiting for their email address, and if the appointment it was used for falls through, it goes back on the card.

Do visits from before the loyalty card count?

No. Collecting starts when you switch the loyalty card on, so no surprise rewards go out. If you want to give a loyal client a head start, add a few stamps on their client card.

Does Avana charge extra for a loyalty card?

No, there's nothing extra to pay. The loyalty card is in every Avana salon plan, Business, Business Plus and Business Max, and in your free trial too. Avana Business costs $20.99 a month, tax included, which is $0.69 a day. If you switch it off, collecting stops and what clients had is kept.

Is there a service fee, and who pays it?

When a client pays online, a small service fee is part of the price they see from the very first screen: 3% of the booking, at least $1.99 and at most $2.79. You pay nothing on your takings, because Avana charges no commission. That small amount from the client is what lets us pay you out in full, so the whole treatment price stays with you.

The short answer

What is Avana's loyalty card?

Avana's loyalty card is a digital punch card for salons. Every visit that went ahead counts as a stamp automatically, and after the number of visits you choose, from three to twenty, the client gets a reward by email: a discount code in their name, used once at a later appointment. Cancellations and no-shows don't count, a booking with several services is one visit, and you can add or remove stamps on the client card. The total appears in every confirmation email. The loyalty card is included at no extra cost in every salon plan, including the free trial. For a solo salon, Avana Business costs $20.99 a month, tax included, which is $0.69 a day.

Loyalty programs for salons

A digital punch card for your regulars

A paper punch card works until it vanishes into a coat pocket or you forget to stamp it. A digital salon loyalty program keeps itself up to date: every visit that went ahead adds a stamp, and when the card is full the reward arrives by email. Whatever you call it, the idea is the same: people who come more often get something back.

It works simply: someone with four of five stamps won't switch to the salon down the road for one visit. The total is on the client card, so it's easy to mention at the desk, and the confirmation email shows clients how many visits are left. The reward itself is an ordinary discount code in their name.

A salon loyalty scheme can be simple: one card with stamps and one reward you choose, with no points to calculate and no app for clients. The loyalty card screen shows who's collecting and who's one visit short, and campaigns on Business Max let you message them all at once. It's in every plan at no extra cost, and the pricing page shows what else each plan includes.

What is a digital loyalty card, and who is it for?

A digital loyalty card is a punch card that lives in your booking system rather than your client's purse. Every visit earns a stamp, and after a set number of visits the client gets a reward. It works for any salon with clients who come back regularly: the hairdresser who sees someone every six weeks, the nail tech whose clients get a new set every three weeks, the barber with a Saturday crowd, the beauty therapist with monthly treatments.

The trouble with paper is familiar: the card's at home, you forget to stamp it, and nobody remembers who already had a reward. In Avana the loyalty card keeps itself up to date. An appointment that went ahead becomes a stamp a few hours later; a cancellation or no-show doesn't count. After each visit the client gets an email with the new total, and when the card is full, their own discount code that only they can use. No app, no account.

How many visits before a reward, and what should the reward be?

Pick a number clients reach within six months to a year; a card that takes two years to fill feels like never. Look at how often your clients come. A hairdresser seeing clients every six to eight weeks does well with five or six visits; a nail studio with appointments every three or four weeks can go to eight or ten; a barber with clients every two or three weeks can go to ten or twelve.

Simple rewards work best: a fixed amount off the next service, or a percentage off. A fixed amount is clearest for clients; a percentage grows with a pricier service. Don't give away so much that a full card costs you half a day's takings. Leave validity at six months unless clients come less often, in which case twelve months gives them time to use it.

What if a stamp on the loyalty card isn't right?

Fix it yourself on the client card. It happens: a client who came for years before the loyalty card and deserves a head start, a visit that wasn't in Avana, or an appointment you left as attended by mistake. A stamp from an appointment you mark as canceled or a no-show within a few days comes off automatically.

Open the client and use the loyalty card block to add or remove a stamp, with a reason if you like; recent changes are listed underneath. If a manual stamp fills the card, the reward is emailed straight away. Clients without an email address still collect but don't get emails, and the reward only works with an email address, so ask for one at the desk or let them book online from now on.

How do you tell whether your loyalty card pays off?

Look beyond how many rewards you hand out, at how many clients are collecting and whether they come more often. A card that gives ten rewards a month to clients who'd have come anyway costs you money; one that gets a few clients to book that one extra time pays for itself.

The loyalty card screen shows this month's collectors, rewards earned and used, and new collectors, plus a list of clients sorted by how close they are to a reward. That's your list for mentioning at the desk that the card fills next visit. Your reports, from Business Plus, also show whether the share of returning clients is growing.
